At Three Lens Advisors, LLC we differentiate ourselves from other consulting firms by focusing on the complex core needs of our clients, recognizing that each company has multiple stakeholders with diverse perspectives. Our firm derives its name from a management model developed at MIT that recognizes that organizational problems rarely have single, clear, correct solutions. By balancing multiple perspectives—looking at issues and problems through different lenses—we develop innovative solutions that are effective and sustainable.
The MIT Three Lenses of Management model analyzes organizational issues using the strategic design lens (i.e., the formal organizational structure of roles, tasks and information flows), the political lens (i.e., the power and influence dynamics in an organization) and the cultural lens (i.e., the assumptions, meanings and rituals that have developed over time within organizations).
Inspired by this model, Three Lens Advisors developed its own set of lenses for analyzing compensation issues:
- The Individual’s Lens—examining the impact on attraction, retention and motivation; creating a culture of fairness and consistency
- The Organization’s Lens—reflecting and supporting the operational, financial and strategic priorities of the business; fostering a performance-oriented work environment
- The Owner’s or Investor’s Lens—aligning the interests of current executives and employees with long-term investors, ensuring short-term performance measures and rewards are correlated with long-term value creation
We recognize that different clients and circumstances may require different sets of lenses, and we customize our approach as necessary.
